Water Rescue

At 9:59 a.m. units from the Claymont Fire Company and multiple other emergency response agencies were dispatched to 6200 Philadelphia Pike, Oceanport Industries, in Claymont for a report of a person in the water needing rescue.

?Arriving units were directed to a pier. A worker driving a front-end loader had driven the vehicle into the water. The vehicle could be seen from the pier. Firefighters entered the water from the land and also utilized boats to reach the scene. The worker was recovered and brought to a pier by a rescue boat. Paramedics were standing by and pronounced the worker deceased.

?Personnel from the following organizations responded to the incident: Claymont, Goodwill, Holloway Terrace, Minquas and Wilmington Fire Departments. New Castle County EMS, the Delaware State Police, the New Castle County Dive Team, and Sun Logistics. Approximately 26 personnel responded to the incident.

?The Incident Commander was Chief Mark Harris. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
